The first time I joined boy scouts, I was as happy as the sun. When I had my first meeting I was as nervous as a turkey at thanksgiving. I started to get all my uniform on and got in the truck. It took about 5 minutes to get there. When I got there, the scoutmaster greeted me. He said, “Hello, welcome to boy scouts.” I shook his hand and sat down. The first thing the scout master said was, “First of all, let’s welcome our new boy scouts,” then applause came suddenly. The scout master asked us to tell them who we were and why did we join. When it was my turn I replied, “I’m Ben Wilson and I joined because I wanted to .” After we got introduced we went in this special room. There was a TV in the room. There was a scout leader talking. He said were going to watch a video about child abuse. It took him a minute to turn it on. The screen had 5 videos that we were suppose to watch. The first video was fine to turn on, but the others were a pain it the butt to watch. We finally got the others to work. After the videos were done, we went out of the special room. We got together and said bye. That was my first meeting. A couple weeks later, we had another meeting. It was about my fundraiser. It was about selling Yankee Candles. The day after that meeting we went out and sold a bunch of Yankee Candles. We had so much that day, we had a whole bundle worth of money. We sold over $50 worth of Yankee Candles. That weekend I went to my grandma’s house because she said her friend, Sheryl, loves, and I mean loves Yankee Candles. So we went over to her house and she kept the packet for the day. The next day she bought $120 worth of candles. That week the fundraiser ended. Our total was $446. When we had our next meeting, it was at saint Adie’s church. We got out of the car and went inside. We were directed to the back off the church. We had to put hair nets on and also gloves. Then we went to a table. There were boxes under the table. The people there told us to right our names on one of the boxes. After we wrote our names, they told us what we were here for. One of the helpers yelled, “You are all here for packing boxes for Haiti. You will pack 3 boxes and then you can go home.” I thought in my mind, “here we go again,” but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. So we got started at about 7:30 and ended at about 8:50.It was as dark as a cave. At the end it was really fun. This is the story about me and boy scouts.
